Vash was nervously looking at the clock. He waited. Gott. It was killing him. He didn't like waiting. Not when it came to something important like this. He had bandages around his chest and back that needed to be replaced. Gott. It itched too.

He hated his job right know. He blamed himself for this. It was an accident, people told him. Not his fault, it could happen to everyone. Yeah right. Who slips out over blood and fall through a window. It's a miracle that he didn't break his neck. He was thankful for that.

He sighed. He felt a bit of a loser right now. He felt so helpless. He could barely do anything right now. Just waiting. Waiting could kill people, you know that, he thought to himself. People die of infections daily. Gott. He wasn't really helping. Time was killing him. No waiting was killing him. He couldn't wait till he was finally out of here.

Ludwig was on his way to his brother's room when he noticed a door slightly ajar in the Adult Ward. He peeked inside cautiously, wanting to know what the hell the door was doing open, and yet at the same time wanting nothing to do with it. He'd pulled open way too many of his colleagues' doors in his almost four years here…

He breathed a sigh of relief as he noticed one man alone inside, who appeared to be having a panic attack. Those bandages needed to be changed, as well. Perhaps that was the cause of the panic; many patients (and one intern) feared infection like Ludwig himself feared failure.

This was not Ludwig's patient, and therefore not his responsibility, but he felt compelled to help, anyway. This guy (Vash Zwingli, he observed from the nameplate on the wall) may not have been his responsibility now, but if he hyperventilated, he would become Ludwig's responsibility, and Ludwig did not need that.

So he pushed open the door. "Mr. Zwingli, I'm here to replace your bandages," he announced, hoping it would calm the other man.

Vash snapped out of his thoughts when he heard someone talking to him. A doctor. Hmn? He had seen him before. Wasn't he the brother of that annoying German. Ah he didn't even want to know. He was now trapped in between two things.

One let a doctor that wasn't his touch him, or two don't and catch an infection. Both choises didn't seem good to him. He was trapped. He ended up chosing one. He really needed new bandages now. If he would die afterwards, they could blame the German for it. Then they would see how chaotic this hospital was.

He simply nodded at the doctor. "Danke." He mumbled. He was glad someone wanted to change his bandages now.

“All right, then.” Ludwig began pulling open drawers and cabinets, gathering supplies and placing them on the bedside table. He looked the items over carefully; had he forgotten anything? Everything seemed to be in order, so he stepped away just long enough to wash his hands in preparation. He would be wearing gloves, but considering this patient’s general behavior, the safer the better.

“And since I’m not officially your doctor,” he began when he returned, “I’m going to need to ask you a few questions before we begin. I need to know whether this is a surgical incision or an injury, whether your doctor usually gives you any additional medications at this time, and who your doctor is, for that matter.” So I can save face with him/her later, he added in his mind, but he didn’t dare say that bit out loud.
