An Unexpected Meet-up [Magnús & Terje]

Magnús sighed, walking down the corridors of the hospital. His body was shaking from how weak his bones and joints were, but it didn’t stop him from walking, he really didn’t want to use the wheelchair to go try enjoy a meal in the cafeteria of the hospital. When he’d told his parents of the diagnosis of his leukaemia, he begged them not to tell his older brother, Terje. He loved his brother, but he knew he’d react badly to finding out the news.

After almost falling over a couple of times, and telling any of the doctors and nurses passing by at the time he was okay. The Icelander finally made it to the cafeteria, pushing the white wooden door, he stumbled through into the room where he’d be eating his hopefully delicious lunch. Quickly, he stumbled across the room to find an place to sit before he actually fell over. Coughing slightly, to try hide his embarrassment from anyone who possibly watched his oh so lovely entrance.

Sitting up carefully, he straightens his shirt and glances over to where the food was served. The line was quite full, he’d have to wait for it to lessen down if he were to get anything, he didn’t want to risk falling over onto a little child or anything. “I guess I’ll just sit here for a while” he murmured, crossing his arms in hopes of the line ceasing down enough for him to be able to get something.
“I wish I brought a book...” he sighed, looking up at the white ceiling of the cafeteria.

After much irritation with dealing with doctors for the day, it made him hungry, like, he couldn't even begin to describe just how famished he was right now. Walking by several vending machines, he decided against purchasing a light snack from them -He wanted something filling, like potatoes. Eventually, after avoiding to ask for directions and asking if there even was one, he found a cafeteria. Oh thank god. Pushing open the doors, that were heavy for him, and the colour of it irksome, he went inside. Mm... it smelled good in here, atleast, so the food must be decent. Finding a tray, he entered the line, which bothered him even more, considering he couldn't stand to well.

And why the hell was it so bright in here anyway?!

Didn't doctors know that bright lighting can cause and/or worsen headaches?! He groaned. Goddammit. His finally went away to, after hours, and he really didn't want another one so soon. So he shut his eyes for now, using his sense on whether the line moved ahead. Eventually, after doing this from sometime, he reached the foods, picked up a plate of mashed potatoes and a salad, along with a bottled water, paid for it, and wandered over to sit at a table. While he was though, he suddenly caught the sight of something recognizable -Or so he he hoped.

It better not be the damn spots and faeries again.

So turning, he left out a breathe of relief that it wasn't what he hoped it wasn't, but then suddenly emotions grew within him. With a mix of happiness, curiosity, and excitement, he rushed over to the table where he saw his cute little brother sitting at, when suddenly, right before reaching the table, his legs decided to choose a bad time to fall out. Tray falling, and himself, he couldn't do much to save himself, before slamming down onto the floor. Well, damn. Today just really wasn't his day, now was it.

"Faen fittaballer..."

The sound of a tray clashing to the floor broke Magnús out of his gaze with the ceiling, blue eyes darting to otherside of the table to see... "B-Bróðir?" shock filled his system. He was ever so curious to see his brother here, he was happy and scared now. He'd most probably tell his brother the truth to why he was here.

Scrambling out the chair he was sat in, Magnús skidded around to his brothers side, almost falling himself since his body wasn't up for such a rushed up-getting. That, and there seemed to be mashed potato all over the place. "...T-Terje?", he offered a shaky arm down to help his poor brother up. He noticed a the tray not too far from his brother, mashed potato and salad was scattered and smothered into the laminate floors of the cafeteria.

Magnús bent down as far as he could without inflicting more pain on his joints, he wanted to get his brother up off the floor before if caused too much commotion in the room. "...A-are you okay?"

"How the fuck can today get any worse?" he thought, just his luck he'd encounter his older brother. The one person he didn't want to see him like the way he is.

Hearing his brother's voice brought back his complexes for his brother, suddenly reminding him what he had been tying to push away. Why did his brother have to be so cute? Slowly raising himself from the floor, balancing himself on his hands and knees, he lifted his head to left over at his younger brother who has rushed to his side to help... him. Oh my god. Promptly, he (as calmly as he could) threw himself at his brother, smothering him in a hug. He hadn't seen Magnus in months and.. and... wasn't he suppose to be at school, in a completely different state?! Country, even? he could hardly remember it, but now he couldn't help but think... -Was his brother this close all this time?!

"Lil'bror... jeg har savnet deg så mye."

He could hardly contain his usual flat tone, all but expressing his happiness at seeing his brother again. It had been far too long since he had last seen him, and of all places to run into his brother at, he couldn't help but be happy. Not finding his brother's question important, he let the other go (reluctantly, of course) and looked straight at him, and... he looked a little paler, different even, but he blamed that on the reason he hadn't seen Magnus in so very long, so he didn't have a second thought about it.

Watching his brother carefully, sudden past memories of their part together playing through his mind, only to get torn away from when he felt the impact of Terje hugging him which made the bones in his body hurt that smallest bit, but he'd withstand it to have the affection from his older brother. Was his brother that happy to see him again? Did he know that it was the local school he was attending and not some other out of the state, or out the country for that matter?!

Magnús smiled faintly at his brothers remark, it was cute? "Ég saknaði þín líka..." he hesitated before adding the last of his sentance "..S-stóri bróðir." Why did he have to struggle to call his own big brother, big brother?

Finding some relief when Terje let go of him, finding time to quickly close his eyes then re-open them to look at his brother. He wondered briefly. Would brother notice anything different about him? Like, how damned paler he was compared to the last time they saw each other, or maybe how more trim he was. Getting up, he offered his arm out again to Terje, he'd rather talk to his brother sat at a clean table than a floor now smothered in what was Terje's lunch.

Did his ears right just now? He honestly couldn't believe what was just said, what he was finally called, after years of not being referred to as such. But after what felt like eternity, ages even, of not seeing his younger brother, right now it just felt so good to hear it. It made their reunion after months feel so good, so much better than it could have been if Magnus hadn't said that wonderful word. "Lil'bror..." Before he could say anything more, he was being helped up off the floor, and then he remembered his fall.

Well, that was embarrassing to say the least, but mostly because his brother had seen him make such a clumsy accident, and was now aiding him. Well shit. Now he didn't feel like an older brother at all, but it didn't totally matter. He was still so damn glad to see his little brother that he even forgot how hungry he'd been. Food forgotten, even though he was all around him, he stood him with his brother.

"I'm so... happy to see you. You've no idea... but... why are you here?"

Maybe it was for school? His brother was sent away afterall, and he had no idea what sort of routine his brother's new school had.

Shifting his gaze from his brother, this was awkward. His brother had asked him why he was here. Why the hell did he have to ask him that?! Why did he have to answer the question he wanted to avoid? Sould he lie and say its some shitty school trip? Nah, he couldn't. He didn't want to hide from Terje what he'd managed to do for months.

"Terje..." He smiled half heartedly "Don't get mad or anything. B-but the reason I'm here is 'cause..." he sighed heavily, now expecting the worst reaction from his brother "T-Terje, stóri bróðir minn... I have leukemia..." After saying that, he didn't dare look back up at Terje until he said something.

Now he just hoped his brother would take in the news alright...

He stared at the other flatly, slowly processing in his mind what the other had said, before disbelief took over his expression, and then... then he didn't even know... he didn't even want to believe it. His face, as the seconds passed, eventually reflected a look of grief; would his brother die?! He... he didn't even want to think about that, not at all. He couldn't even bare that idea in his mind, of losing his little brother like that. They were both still so young, his brother being even younger (obviously, since he was the oldest of the two) and as his mind went into overdrive of trying to not accept what was said, over trusting if it was true, was giving him a headache worse than what he's had since they started.

"L-Lil'bror..."

Though, as he continued to think about it, head pounding severely as the he stressed himself about it, realization struck him that it must be true because he was just called big brother, and that.... that never happened. If his dear little brother had to say it now of all times, then the situation had to real, and his brother did have leukemia. Suddenly, it all explained everything; the other's pale and sickly appearance, his slimmer frame, and looking a bit unhealthy now that he got a closer look. He couldn't stop himself before he was grabbing the other, stopping their movements of walking, and gathered the younger into an even tighter embrace than before.

"I won't let you go anywhere."

Terje was scared, but Magnus must be even more so. He didn't want his brother to leave..

"...I-I'm sorry" was all poor Magnús could musker out after Terje called him little brother, he still refused to look at his brother. It'd hit his brother harder than it hit him, maybe. He didn't want to die, but hopefully the doctors here could help him before it's too late. He remembered how his brother got stressed easy if he was ill when they were younger.

Magnús, felt like crying, he didn't want to. He had to be strong. But he was scared shitless. Yeah, there is kids at a much younger age that get this. But, it was still scary, getting any kind of cancer is scary by what he gathered from those crappy hospital dramas. A sudden gush of pain ran through his body was his brother embraced him a embrace that was a little too hard.

Hearing those words come out of Terje's mouth made the tears gathering up roll down Magnús' face.
"Vinsamlega ekki, stóri bróðir. Vinsamlegast ..." was muffled out of his mouth as he embraced his brother back as tight as he could manage while burrying his head onto Terje's shoulder.

"..Gera ekki leyfi."

If the other wasn't sick, and if the situation wasn't laced with a seriousness that made him really want to cry, he would be relishing this moment so much more. Yes, he loved it when his younger brother was this way, in terms of being affectionate and cute and just... being the little brother he always remembered him to be and wished him to always be. Except, he couldn't tease him now, he couldn't ask for anything more and as much as he really wanted to do that, he forced his mind not to. He had to... take this on stride... come to terms with the fact of his little brother's illness, and not take advantage of the other's weakness.

He loved his little brother more than he probably really should.

"Hvis du virkelig ikke ønsker meg til, jeg vil ikke, lil'bror."

His head was bursting in pain from a migraine, but he ignored it, as comforting Magnus and himself was helping him distract away the headache. As he ran a hand up the younger's back comfortingly. He did this for sometime, before slipping his hand up into the other's hair, around the base of his neck, and held him close. Minutes ago, he didn't want to let go of his platinum-haired brother for a different reason that was playful in his typical older brother ways. Except, right now, he just didn't want him out of his sight, in fear that at any time, anything could happen.

It was really stressing him out.

Magnús just latched onto his brother tighter, he really didn't want to let go. He really loved Terje, and was sure he would miss him if something were to happen. Quite frankly, this Icelander missed his brothers normal teasings, but the mood was all too serious for it.

Those few words were enough to send the boy into tears. "S-stóri bróðir..."

Feeling his brother's hand move around his back and to his neck was comforting, but it just made him cry more. Magnús felt... useless. He didn't want his brother to leave him, really. He was just so afraid. Magnús nuzzled his face into his brothers shoulder, hugging him tighter.

"dvöl ... vinsamlegast"

Knowing his brother was here, Magnús felt that little bit safer in the environment he was staying in.

He was beginning to think maybe, just maybe, they were being a little to emotional for eachother right now. Or, to say it differently, they were being to emotional in public which really was a freakish thought when he thought about it. As he held his younger brother tightly though, looking over his shoulder to scan the cafeteria to make sure nobody was looking their way (save the people who snapped their attention away from them) he figured, what the hell? This was important! Let the people look and let them see his weakness, and perhaps even Magnus's weakness; this was a serious situation that threatens his brother's living and his own fear.

"I'll be here, don't you worry, lil'bror..."

Now his earlier thoughts about wishing to leave this hospital as soon as possible were instantly wiped away. Now... he didn't wish to leave. Or want to. At all. Not until he knew his brother was safe from dying..

Lifting his head up off Terje's shoulder, Magnús felt some relief. His tears subsiding eventually. By now, he'd of usually let go of his brother, but he just missed his brother so much he continued to hold on. Screw the surroundings, if he could see his brother before he possibly died he felt that little happier.

"Takk, Terje..."

He wanted to go home with Teje, so badly. We wanted to forget that he was ill and be a family. "So... How've you been, stóri bróðir?" Hey... it was better than nothing to try keep their minds off current event.

Nodding, he concluded in his mind so very long ago that he would always be there for his brother, for more than just a brotherly reason. Of course, the past few months have been difficult to do this, mainly for the fact he never got to (or could) see Magnus. It was hard, and gardening as much as he did helped get his mind off not seeing his little brother. As they soon found themselves sitting at a table, he, ironically, helped his brother sit down first before filling the spot beside him. For a moment, he was silent, wrapping his mind around what his brother had and that he had been close by all this time... in this hospital.

It must be... something pretty terrible...

"Things could have been better with you around --But I'm here now, too."

He'd rather not be, but now it didn't seem so bad, and despite the fact his brother was here for a purpose not too pleasant, it will still be better because in his mind, they had eachother again.

((This is so not an update fff almost a month since the last post orz ;; ))

"I-If only I knew you were here, Terje... We could of been together sooner." Magnús missed the many times he and his brother would be together in the past as kids. He really didn't think his brother would end up in the same place as him. A crappy hospital. The time he spent usually reading books... he could of been with his brother. Magnús frowned a little, glancing to his brother.

Magnús remembered the tray of... food that Terje once had. It seemed the floor was enjoying it...
"Would you like to get somrthing to eat together..?" He really wasn't all that hungry. Magnús wasn't too keen on the food they served, he wished they'd serve something a little more interesting...

He nodded in agreement because if their parents had bothered telling him, or even his brother himself, then it would have been better. Of course, now with the terrible possibility of losing his younger brother, this made it all the more difficult -They lost so much time they could have had together while Magnus was in such a critical situation. What if his little bro died and... and all that lost time... he suddenly drew his hands up to his eyes ands rubbed against them. He couldn't bear the thought. He just won't think about it. Ja. Pretend it's not true and just treat everyday like any other day before his brother went away.

"J-ja... Might as well replace what I had gotten."

He hadn't realized it until now but his headache was pounding so painfully against his skull and so he moved his hands away from his eyes to massage his head a little. Even though it really didn't help at all but it felt good at least and seemed to ease the pain down.
