Solar Sailer (Raivis and Heracles) Empty
PostSubject: Solar Sailer (Raivis and Heracles)   Solar Sailer (Raivis and Heracles) EmptyThu Jan 06, 2011 11:09 pm

In his boredom, Raivis stared blankly at the pastel walls of his room. The cartoon characters dancing merrily seemed to be mocking him, making fun of his illness and currently disappointment. After all, his mother had missed a visit. Again. Sighing, he leaned forward to rest his head on his hands. She was always working, it seemed. She had probably been offered a chance at overtime again. He knew she worked so hard just so he could get better, but he missed seeing her tired, smiling face.

Righting himself once more, he looked around. Maybe a book would relieve him of his boredom. Oh wait, that was why she was visiting. One of her coworkers had given her a book to pass on to him and she was going to come by and drop it off. He had finished his previous one, after all. Sighing, he flopped back down to a laying position, turning on to his side to make it easier to stare out of the conveniently placed window.

"M-Maybe I could g-go outside for a little while..." he pondered, talking to himself. "Yeah, that'd b-be ni--" before he could even finish the sentence, the small boy was taken up in a coughing fit. Groaning, he sat up. His mother had always told him to sit upright if he was coughing. Groaning in misery, he quickly wiped his now-sweating forehead. Great, he was getting a cold or something again. Something with a fever. That would explain the coughing, at least. He coughed again, hard enough to bring tears to his eyes. Not that it was hard to make him cry or anything.

Hopefully he would be feeling well enough to go outside in a couple of days.

Hopefully.

Heracles walked down the hall quickly, looking over the information he had been given about the newest patient on his rounds. Raivis Galante, 14 years old, diagnosed with leukemia and already missing most of the hair on his head. At least, according to the doctor he was. A sad thing to think about, a 14 year old not even close to adulthood already missing his hair. But he couldn't do anything about that; his job was to make Raivis and his mother feel comfortable while helping Raivis' doctor with everything he needed.

He looked over the visitor schedule Raivis' mother had set up, frowning and slowing when he saw that she was supposed to be in there right now. Surely someone would have told him so he could have skipped over Raivis and then came back to him when his mother left; he didn't want to interupt the boy's visitation with his mother. But since no one had said anything...that meant that she either wasn't there or didn't mind the interruption. Some parents wanted to talk to the nurses to figure out what the doctor wasn't telling them.

Deciding to err on the side of caution, he knocked on the door before resting his hand on the doorknob waiting for either Raivis or his mother to invite him in. He disliked interrupting the times his patients had with their parents. It didn't seem right.

Knock knock

Raivis looked toward the door in surprise. Maybe his mother did come after all! The thought brought a smile to his face. Yes. She was simply running late again.

"C-Come in!" He called, followed by a stifled cough. He didn't want to make her worry, after all. She already had enough to worry about, what with work and him being sick and all.

He brought his hands up, making sure to straighten his hat before the visitor entered. Even though the boy was sick, he wasn't going to look like a mess. Well, too much like a mess. He sighed. Face it, he looked like a mess whether he wanted to or not. It was kin dof sad, really.

Heracles opened the door and looked into the room, smiling gently at Raivis. So his mother wasn't here. He wondered if the other woman was running late...according to the notes, she was an only parent after all and dealing with hospital bills was exceedingly costly. So it was entirely possible that she was simply working over time to pay for them.

"Hello Mr. Galante, I'm Nurse Karpusi. I'll be one of the nurses taking care of you while you're here, okay?" Heracles looked over the boy, eying his hat with some pity in his eyes simply because he knew why it was there. But at the same time, it was adorably cute.

"How are you feeling today?" He asked, taking in the flushed face and slightly dazed eyes. Either the boy was on some kind of illegal substance -highly unlikely- or he was getting a fever. Which was like insult to injury given what Raivis was already going through.

The hope that filled Raivis instantly vanished when Heracles entered his hospital room. Not that he hated his nurse or anything, but the nurse simply wasn’t his mother. At least this new nurse seemed to be nice. “J-Just call me R-Raivis, p-please.” He requesting, finding the thought of being referred to as “Mr. Galante” fairly awkward.

The boy unconsciously reached up to adjust his already-straight hat, noticing that it was being looked at. People, especially the people here, all tended to pity him and his hat. It could be quite annoying at times. Not that he would actually say anything about it, though.

“I think I’m g-g-getting another c-cold.” The boy stuttered out, accompanied by a cough that just didn’t wish to be contained. His body must have wanted to emphasize his words, since he was now nearly doubled over in his coughing fit. It took a moment, but he soon recovered from it and was sitting up straight again, prepared for whatever medication he was going to be pumped with today.

Heracles nodded, looking away from Raivis' hat when the boy adjusted it. No staring at the patients. "Alright then Raivis." He stepped forward and briefly pressed his hand to the boy's forehead before humming and getting out a thermometer. "Hold this under your tongue for a moment." He asked, putting a sanitary sheeth over it and holding it to Raivis' lips. He used his free hand to set out Raivis' charts so he could record his temperature in it when they were done.

He did wonder where Raivis' mother was, but he had seen the hope the vanished from the teen when Heracles had come into the room and knew it was better to not prod. Doing so would be bad.
