..of course I was paying attention...[Ismet!]

Ismet peered into the cafeteria, keeping a carefully blank face. He had never really been in here before, having normally eaten in his room by himself. But...the nurses told him to come down here and socialize with people. They had ignored him when he pointed out that he spent time in the patient's lounge and sent him down here. Of course, he could have ignored them and gone out into the courtyard but one that was mean and two he was hungry.

Unfortunately he didn't know just how to get food here...it looked like people were buying the food but he didn't have any money with him to pay for any food. Frowning, he wheeled over to a somewhat empty table near the windows and sat at the end, reaching into his pocket to pet Kadri. He could just stay here for a while and then go upstairs and tell the nurses truthfully that yes, he had gone down to the cafeteria. He...just hadn't eaten anything.

He looked out the window, smiling slightly. It would be nice to go outside soon...not that the nurses were keeping him inside, no they wanted him to go get some fresh air, but he hadn't wanted to leave his room since coming to the hospital. Ismet found that going through the normal motions of life without his parents around -as little as they had been when they had been alive- just made him want to cry.

Before he could actually start to cry right then and there, he was distracted by the man he was sitting with. He stared at the hand in front of him before looking up at the man's face, hesitantly reaching out to shake it. "Ah, I'm Ismet." He said, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He hadn't really talked with any of the staff outside of Dr. Laurinaitis and the nurses, but weren't they suppose to give their last names as well? He frowned at Antonio's question, glancing at the line. "I'm...not entirely sure how to order food here." He had always brought food, when he had been attending school.

Ismet pulled his hand back once Antonio was done shaking it, frowning at him. The doctor sounded like he was laughing at him; which wasn't something doctors were supposed to do, right? Still, Ismet appreciated the offer..."Could you? Um, thank you..." He pushed away from the table slightly, smiling at him.

Ismet pulled his leg -the one that wasn't in a cast- closer to his body, an irrational fear that it would get caught under the wheel filling his mind as Antonio rolled him towards the food line. He frowned at the doctor's question, leaning back in his chair and staring down at his lap. "I...don't really remember most of it, but my parents and I were in a car crash..." The part about his parents, according to what he overheard, being the cause of said crash he left out. Antonio didn't need to know that.

He tensed slightly, staring at his lap with wide eyes in an attempt to keep himself calm. Thinking about his parents was bad enough; having to reveal that they were dead would make him start crying and he was not suppose to do that in public with people around to see. He wasn't suppose to cry at all. "No, my parents aren't here." He said quickly, swallowing down the sob that nearly followed the words. He was a man now, since his father was...gone. In any case, men do not cry. And so Ismet wouldn't cry.
