The Worst of Circumstances [Open] Empty
PostSubject: The Worst of Circumstances [Open]   The Worst of Circumstances [Open] EmptyWed Sep 01, 2010 5:48 pm

Kim-Ly was bored. And worse than being bored, was being bored and in pain. Worse than that? Bored, in pained, and abandoned . All of which she happened to be.

Oh your friend? Yes, go ahead and leave me here. It’s not like I’m going anywhere. And certainly isn’t like I’m injured or anything The Viet pursed her lips, under the idea that the conversation never happened. If it had....well perhaps she wouldn’t be stuck here in the hallway, feeling slightly voyeuristic as she would catch a glance of an occupant of another room.

Kim-Ly often prided herself on her ability to stay quiet, and still for long periods of time; assuming that those times it was the correct time to remain silent which were few. This was most certainly not one of those times and the Viet craned her head around the corner of the hallway in a vain attempt to scout out the position of the technician, nurse or whomever they were that was supposed to push her back to her room. Wherever that might be.
If that lady was in her unit...

Kim-Ly grimaced, realizing that she would never like a woman like that to serve under her command –along with the fact that for now she wouldn’t be seeing wounded soldiers for a long time. All because of a silly truck –She herself had always pictured leaving the service in a final blaze of glory.
Kim-Ly had never liked trucks anyways. Didn’t like them before they decided to crash into her, and didn’t like them now. Obviously some things never changed –like the fact that the numerous painkillers did little to mellow the by-now very annoyed woman.
Giving a final sigh, she collapsed back onto the pillow, far too white for her liking. She was almost scared to lay back down on it, in case her forehead somehow managed to stain the perfect white expanse.

Chao Má. I’ve been reduced to a charming imbecile. Charming because that’s the only polite word I can come up with at this moment
...I hope you’re doing better than me right now.

It was a habit Kim-Ly had gotten herself into, as if somehow her thoughts could reach wherever her mother may be. That, or could simple act as a defense, a reassurance that she was not yet mad enough to talk to herself. Another habit which her partaking in had become common.
Along with the sudden urge to scream out an obscenity of some type of sort. French, Chinese, Vietnamese, English. It didn’t matter. She was bored , and a tribal yell longed to escape her throat.

Chew your words Seven times before you speak Kim-Ly, else they fly back to bite you

“Grr.”

((Fft, first post fail >.> Description was never my highpoint. In summary: She’s been left in the hallway and she’s bored. Yus. That comment shall do nicely))

Ismet frowned, looking down at his wheelchair. He disliked the contraption; it was hard to use and he got stuck in places he didn't want to be stuck. Still he was glad to get out of his room without someone watching. He technically wasn't suppose to be out of his room but it was boring in there.

He yawned, covering his mouth with his sleeve and continueing down the hallway. He had to be careful not to run into someone and look guilty; he didn't want to go back to his room. He would normally go see Jun, but the younger boy was currently getting looked over by one of the nurses and he would definitely be sent back to his room if he interupted.

He looked around a corner and paused, staring at the stretcher in the middle of the hallway. He couldn't see much of the person on it - only seeing black hair - but it was weird to see someone just sitting there in the hallway. He hesitated before briefly petting Kadri and wheeling closer to the person. He froze as the person growled, and he looked back over his shoulder nervously. "Um, ma'am? Are you okay?" He wondered, inwardly fidgeting. He kept on his normal blank face though, not want to show that he was nervous.

((Kadri = his kitty plushie))

The Worst of Circumstances [Open] Empty

Kim-Ly’s eyes opened slightly, dark eyes searching for whoever had spoken.
A boy? He seemed quite young to wander around by himself. And far too young to be confined to a hospital. She bit her lip and pushed away any further feelings of concern for this stranger. For precisely that reason –He was a stranger and whatever had landed him here was of no concern to her. Strangers were the ones who shot at you, Strangers were the ones came to her motherland and seized independence. Not to be trusted The faint reminder resounded in her head. Not my concern
Assuming he wasn’t suffering from some contagious disease in which case, yes, it would be very much her concern.

The Asian’s brows furrowed and she lifted an arm to brush her bangs from her eyes only to lower the limb quickly upon the sharp and potent reminders of her...injury.

“I am fine.” She rasped in reply, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks. It was a blatant lie, as many of her words often were. But if there was something that Kim-Ly couldn’t do –it was admit injury. Whether it be to her pride or body.
Beside’s She wasn’t supposed be asked that question –It was her job to be inquiring the well-being of others. NOT the other way around. The woman who had once so happily navigated injured soldiers, the girl who had so unabashedly defied whatever demands were made of her reduced to a hospital patient.

‘What would the boys at school think now? Hmmm, Mother?’ Mused Kim-Ly, not really expecting an answer; she had stopped listening for the answer a long time ago.

She sat up straighter, head raised slightly from the pillow, Eyes lifted from the white sheets of the blanket to meet his gaze, red and swollen fingers grasping the fabric in a certain desperation. “Are you alright, Mr...” The Viet trailed off inquiringly.

Ismet fidgeted, looking at the women. She didn't sound like she was fine, but he wasn't suppose to question adults...Still, she sounded like she was in alot of pain. He pulled Kadri closer, thinking to the plushie's namesake and wondering what she would do. Taking a deep breath, he offered the plushie out to the woman, a faint blush dusting his cheeks.

"Ah, um, I'm fine. And my name is Ismet." He looked back at her, frowning. She looked like she was in alot of pain..."What's yours?" He wondered, tilting his head to the side in question.

Kim-Ly blinked slowly at the boy’s offering, eyes swimming with her unspoken confusion. Truth be told, being offered stuffed animals wasn’t quite a common occurrence, and quite frankly she wasn’t entirely sure how to react to this sudden period of kindness from the boy...or Ismet as he had called himself.

“I-It’s yours,” She stammered shaking her head weakly, though couldn’t help but soften slightly at his actions. Kim-Ly had always liked children –even if she denied it half the time. She figured one would have to be a monster even think of harming such innocent entities –and the Viet was many things but she certainly was heartless. Yet anyways...she had plenty of time left in this time so be so cruel –and some even insisted that she was already half way there.

It wasn’t her fault that people were sometimes far too annoying to ignore.

“Kim-Ly. Nguyen Lien Kim-Ly.”

"But...you look like you're in pain. Kadri can comfort you." He said, continuing to hold the plushie out. The plushie had comforted him when he had woken up to find himself without any family left, and when he had first discovered that there were things about his past that he knew were important that he couldn't remember anymore.

He smiled at her. "It's nice to meet you Miss. Kim-Ly." He said. Politness had been ingrained him from a young age, and it was almost habit now to call someone 'Miss' or 'Mr'.

The Worst of Circumstances [Open] Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Worst of Circumstances [Open]   The Worst of Circumstances [Open] EmptySat Sep 11, 2010 10:59 pm

I am a fully grown adult. There is no shame in accepting a stuffed animal to humor a child

She sighed filled with an overwhelming desire to pull at her hair –a habit that she had gotten into whenever she was possessed with fits of indecisiveness or other extreme emotions unable to be described with spoken word.
“I am not in pain.” She murmured defensively, lips pursing into a child-like pout. Though she offered very little explanation as to why precisely she swaddled in what seemed to be pounds of bandage and needles. A lovely, healthy image to project no doubt.

Not like anyone will see anyways...
Feeling any last shreds of reserved dignity leave her entity, Kim-Ly raised a shaking arm to reach for the stuffed animal.

“Likewise...Ismet.” English was silly language, mused the woman. In her own language she might have been able to slip some sort of title of honor with in her greeting. But in English? Any ‘Mr.’ would be automatically translated as patronizing.
The Viet bit her tongue, unsure of what to say.

PostSubject: Re: The Worst of Circumstances [Open]   The Worst of Circumstances [Open] EmptySun Sep 12, 2010 9:00 am

He watched as she pouted, feeling kind of awkward seeing an adult do something he normally only saw children do. It was...odd, to see an adult acting like a child; adults were suppose to be adults. But then, people often told him he acted too much like an adult for a child, so he supposed people could act anyway they wanted to.

"If you say so..." He muttered, moving closer so that he could hand the plushie to her without her stretching to far. He could see her arm shaking slightly, and he hoped that he hadn't made her do something painful just to fufill his desire to be nice.

He gave her Kadri and pulled his arms back, tugging at his sleeves. He felt almost...naked without the plush, which he knew was silly because he had only had her since he had woken up here in the hospital. He smiled widely at her, not quite sure what to say next. He couldn't leave, because then he would be leaving Kadri behind, but the silence was beginning to get uncomfortable and he didn't like uncomfortable silences.
