Appearance: Ivan is probably the tallest person in the hospital at any given time. He only takes his scarf off when he HAS to – ie, during surgery – and the rest of the time will wear it over his work clothes, even on hot days. Most of the time he appears innocent and childish, but on other days, when he is in a different mood, even his smile alone can intimidate people. If his weight comes into question, he will state adamantly that he is “just big-boned”.

Personality: Ivan gets a real kick out of what he does. He loves hearing the screams and seeing the fear in people's eyes and he gets out the needles and the sickle probes. He picked a job in which he'd be paid to cause people pain, and he's never regretted that decision. He's sadistic. But he's also very lonely, and loves to make new friends, as well as to watch people having a good time. He is not really aware that hurting people is bad for the other person, only that it causes him pleasure. Only his patients really know his true nature; the other hospital workers only see his gentle, innocent appearance.

Despite everything, though, he really does want to fix people's teeth. He is appalled when people don't look after their mouths, and desperately wants to make them all perfect. Just with as much pain involved as possible.

Other Notes: Although he does not need to, Ivan likes to treat as many patients as possible himself, rather than delegating tasks to those less senior than himself.

History: Ivan always wanted to be a ballet dancer when he was younger. He was very good at ballet, and still is, though he doesn't practise as much as he'd like these days. The Russian became aware of his sadistic nature in early puberty, and, after doing some research, decided around fourteen years old that he wanted to be a dentist.

He studied hard to get the best grades he could, so that he would get his dream job. Sometimes he would become very frustrated with the amount of work involved, as Ivan enjoys relaxing and being pampered, and is used to that, having very rich parents. He often considered giving up and just living on the money he already had. But if he did that, he wouldn't get to experience that buzz, that thrill he got when he hurt somebody. Not often, anyway.

So he continued to work hard, and he eventually became the head dentist at Axis Memorial Hospital. This is the perfect hospital for him, because it keeps the patients in until they have made a full recovery: which means that he gets to take care of their mouths during their entire stay, sniping existing patients for himself, as well as having plenty of fresh patients who are perfectly fit and healthy in every other respect.


Other Important Info: Despite pretty much every doctor in the hospital telling him to stop, Ivan smokes and drinks a lot. However, he is very set upon exactly what he will smoke and drink (Sobranie or Java, and vodka).


Roleplay Sample: This particular morning things had been very slow. Well. Slow in Ivan's view. The clinic had actually been quite busy, but it was all mothers with children... All with horrible, disgusting, rotting mouths from eating too many sweets... Ivan frowned just a little at the thought of having to deal with another annoying, wailing child, another nagging mother. He hated days like this. But, ah. His only desire was to help people, after all, he reminded himself, his usual smile returning to his face.

And so, he spent hour after hour treating these pointless, useless, time-wasting patients. Filling in the holes in their teeth. At least they were less annoying after he'd treated them. They showed him a little more respect. Or was that fear? Weren't they the same thing? One bred the other...

But, as luck would have it, a young man was rushed in for an emergency appointment. Ivan could taste the pain in the air. He relished the whimpers and cries the man was already making. He could hear him being brought through to his surgery. How bad must this person's teeth be if he was making this much noise, if the appointment was such an emergency? Ivan shuddered to think. He would make it all better, it would be all better. If Ivan had his way, mouths like that wouldn't exist in the world. If there was one thing he couldn't stand it was an unhealthy mouth.

He looked forward to seeing how loud this man could really scream.

You have a very nice application and I like how you have Russia, and I totally like the idea but I don't think dental surgery is done in hospitals anymore. I was there a few months ago and it was just a shady looking building where they knocked me out....so either you have to prove me wrong, or pick a new job for our darling Russia here. I am just going off what the doctors tell me hahaa. If I am wrong, just tell me~

Well, there's a dental section at my local hospital, maybe it depends upon which country you live in or something?

Eeither way, could't we bend the rules just a little for this rp? =P I really love the idea of Ivan as a dentist XD Sorry if this causes problems ^^;

Gah, I am really sorry. The more that I think about this, the more that it doesn't work. As you said, it varies from country to country, I am sure. However, where this roleplay is set, it is not fitting at all. I have been in arguments in real life with my father on the same issue, and talked to a real oral surgeon on the matter, and they aren't really in hospitals where this is taking place. At most, they are in buildings nearby with no direct relation to the hospital.

I honestly love the idea of Russia as a dentist with all my heart, and it is totally fitting for his personality, I cannot accept it in this situation, I am sorry! However, there are plenty of other jobs in the medical field that require similar things that would be fitting for him, if you look. I am asking that you please change it. You still have until next week to get it done, so don't rush if you want to look for something matching. I hope that you still want to apply. I know you were excited to get to be Russia.

After thinking it over, I've decided I just don't have enough knowledge of the subject. I could research, of course, but I already do a lot of research for a history forum I rp on, and I'm going back to school on Monday, so I just don't think I'd have enough time. So, I'm relinquishing the place of Ivan. I hope you get somebody great to play him instead. ^^
